Mental health is the ability to use the mental faculties well. Some people may struggle to find meaning out of it. A person is mentally healthy if he or she is able to maintain a healthy interpersonal relationship. People who are able to handle changes and diversity are said to be mentally healthy. The reality, only a few can tell how mentally healthy a person is. We start to notice when people act strangely and not conforming to norms. Often times, when we see people with less than stellar mental health we choose to ignore it.
Without about, good mental health is something we don’t really give much attention to. We notice to have slight headache, mood swings and low tolerance but shrug about it. We just dismiss our extended gloomy feeling as something we are just sad about. We may go at life without realizing something is wrong with our mental health or other person’s. It is often misunderstood. It is possible for someone or you can be suffering from depression. In fact, depression is the most common manifestation of mental disorder. There are mental disorders that happen yet we don’t have much knowledge about. The fact is most of the disorders are not detected earnestly and will become an issue when it comes a problem and impacting the quality of life. People who may not be able to look at the writings on the wall may end up spending a lot in treatments. Another thing, people may not be amendable to get treated due to potential social backlash of having a mental disorder.
A lot of people think mental health is separate from physical health. In many cases, mental health becomes affected due to physical problems. There are physical problems that may lead to problems of the body. Women may suffer from mild depression after giving birth. During pregnancy, due to changes in the hormone they also can have some mental challenges. Hormonal changes can cause problems and lead to challenges in mental health. Without proper sleep people can become anxious. There would be too much impact to the body when stress remains that can impact the body.
The key here is to be sensitive in finding out how good the mental health of the person is. Bad mental health can cause people to avoid eating or sleeping. In turn, the mental disorder has become the source of the breakdown in the physical health. Too much thinking can cause much anxiety and impacts the health.
Being sensitive can lead people to understand what mental health is all about. The right knowledge can help people to have their cases treated. Bigger problems may ensue if the person gets no treatment at all.
